What is the NBN?
The nbn™ network is Australia’s new landline phone and internet network. It’s designed to provide you with access to all the benefits of fast and reliable internet services, wherever you live.
Over the coming months and years as the National Broadband Network (nbn™) is rolled out, many parts of Australia’s existing telephone network will be switched off. Your landline phone or internet may be affected. You can switch and take advantage of the faster speeds and reliability of the the nbn™. However to do so, you must switch from your current internet service provider to an authorised nbn™ service provider.
Who is the NBN?
The nbn™ is a owned by the Australian Government and operated by a Government Business Enterprise. They put the infrastructure in place; then contract with a series of authorised nbn™ service providers to get you connected.
The NBN rollout map
Obviously, something as complex as replacing telephone services that have been in use for years, with a new service that requires complex infrastructure than needs to literally dig wires under streets across the nation, is no easy feat.
Consequently, there are and will be a lot of issues, delays, and frustrations. You can check to see if and when your company or home will be able to get service by entering your address into this NBN rollout map provided by nbnco.com.au.
